The right sports bra makes a workout more comfortable, and the wrong one is hard to ignore. Start with how much you move, then pick a style you'll actually enjoy wearing.
1. Match support to your workout
- Low impact: yoga, Pilates, walking, stretching. A lighter crop or halter style is usually enough.
- Medium impact: cycling, weights, dance. Look for a firmer band and wider straps.
- High impact: running, HIIT, jumping. Choose a high-support bra with an adjustable fit.
2. Pick a style
Front zip
Great if you hate wrestling a tight bra over your head after training. The Front-Zip High Support Sports Bra has a self-locking zip, breathable mesh panels and adjustable straps, so it suits higher-impact sessions.
Racerback
The straps meet between the shoulder blades, which keeps them from slipping and leaves your arms free to move. The Black Racerback Sports Bra adds moulded cups for a smooth shape under a T-shirt.
Halter
A halter neck looks great as a crop top too, so it goes from the gym to coffee with joggers. Try the Royal Blue Keyhole Halter Sports Bra for lower-impact days.
3. Check the fit
- Band: it should feel snug and stay level all the way round. Most support comes from the band, not the straps.
- Straps: you should fit two fingers underneath without them digging in.
- Movement test: jump or jog on the spot. If you feel lots of bounce, size down or choose more support.
